Thumb Area Charter Captain Association

The Thumb Area Charter Captains Association is dedicated to promoting and recognizing the charter industry in the Thumb area and the professionalism of its captains. Prioritizing the safety of all passengers, the association ensures that member captains are licensed by the United States Coast Guard and operate vessels inspected by the State of Michigan.

With U.S.C.G. licensed captains and DNR-inspected vessels, charter trips with association members offer a thrilling fishing experience in the abundant waters of the Thumb Area. From perch and walleye to steelhead and king salmon, these trips provide opportunities to catch a variety of fish species, with the T humb Area recognized by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for its exceptional fish-catching ports.

In addition to fishing expeditions, the association offers exciting dive charters for those eager to explore the countless shipwrecks nestled in the depths of the Great Lake Basin. These well-preserved wrecks provide excellent opportunities for scuba diving enthusiasts to delve into maritime history. For those seeking a more leisurely experience, the association also offers sunset, scenic, and dinner cruises around Michigan's Thumb, providing breathtaking views of landmarks such as the Port Austin Lighthouse and Turnip Rock. With captains serving eight Thumb area ports, including Caseville, Port Austin, and Harbor Beach, the association ensures convenient access to unforgettable adventures on the water.
